Spring in Ouray
We got to spend a little quiet time this afternoon sitting out on the deck. The sky was deep blue and the sun was hot. No jackets or shoes needed today. It was the kind of day you need to begin the move from “winter ice climbing mode” into “spring is coming mode”. I watched the crows surging along the sky and listened to unseen birds spiraling along Box Canyon on their way to hidden nests. The field that just yesterday had been obscured under piles of snow reemerged to display the grasses and remnants of last year’s wild flowers that inhabit the land. Spring is definitely in the air, even if we know that there are many days and many inches of snow yet to come.
So those of you planning spring break trips, if fighting for space on crowded beaches or battling long lines at the ski lifts are not your idea of a great vacation, then head this way. No beaches but great swimming in the Hot Springs Pool; no expensive lift tickets, just miles of nordic ski trails on pristine snow under the bluest sky around; and no fighting for parking spots.
Enjoy our spring special: from April 1 through May 1, 2012, all single king or double queen rooms are $72.00 per night double occupancy. One day Hot Springs pool passes available for $6.00 per ticket. Fabulous scenery, no charge. Call us at 970 325 7222 to reserve your room. Sorry, cannot be booked on line.
Of course, some people around here call spring around here, Mud Season. Don’t avoid the mud, embrace it. Ouray is hosting our 1st Annual Mud Fest and Mud Ball on April 28, 2012. Make plans to come on out and get muddy, or watch others get muddy or both. Neat things to do for the entire family.
