Telluride Mountainfilm Festival
This is the place to find films from some of America’s leading independent documentary film makers. In addition to screening leading independent documentary films from around the world, the MountainFilm festival includes a full-day symposium on a pressing contemporary issue such as energy (2007), water (2008), food (2009) and the extinction crisis (2010). In addition to films and speakers, the festival includes art exhibits, book signings, student workshops, and a forum for other non-profit organizations aligned with Mountainfilm’s mission and programming.

Hard Rock 100 Mile Endurance Run
The HARDROCK 100 is a mountain run that passes through some of the most beautiful and rugged mountains in the world. It loops through the San Juan Mountains from the start in Silverton CO to Telluride, Ouray, and Lake City.
The course is 100 miles long, has a cumulative vertical gain of 33,992 feet of climb and 33,992 feet of descent for a total elevation change of 67,984 feet, and takes place at an average elevation of about 11,000 feet.

Sneffels Half Loop backcountry Nordic race
This fundraiser for the Mount Sneffels Education fund is a 23 mile run from Telluride into Ridgway. The race will traverse the Alder Creek/Dallas Trail System, which connects the 5 huts of San Juan Hut Systems. Any and all types of skis are allowed: from AT ‘heavy metal’ to ‘toothpicks & tennis shoes.’ Racers are required to have an avalanche transceiver.
