The scenic driving routes to Ouray
The route to Ouray is part of the San Juan Skyway. Running northwards through the San Juan Mountains to Montrose and southwards on Highway 550 over the mountains to the historic towns of Silverton and Durango, the southern terminus of the Million Dollar Highway. This beautiful historic drive is alive with fantastic scenery and possibilities for hiking, biking, jeeping and exploring amongst the played out gold and silver mines of the gold and silver rush of the late 1800s.

Amtrack provides service to Grand Junction, 2 hours north of Ouray. Rental cars are available near the train station.
