Winter Family Fun
For families, a winter stay in Ouray offers downhill skiing, sledding, and skating all without leaving town, followed of course by a swim in the Hot Springs pool.
Lee’s Ski Hill on Third Avenue is a great place to learn new skills. A tow rope operates on weekends and some afternoons.
The local children’s sledding hill is located on the east side of town between Fifth andSixth Avenue. It has been the place Ouray children have gone sledding for over 100 years. Additional sledding opportunities abound in the mountains a short distance from town.
The ice rink in Rotary Park is open throughout the winter, as long as the temperature cooperates. Skates may be rented in town. There is a warming hut for the non-skating members of the family
